Span and Savant now offer home “smart panel” products to do just that.

There are several options for “retrofit” type products that can allow you to selectively monitor panel usage, but these latest products are “whole home” permanent installations.

The best part? You can earn a 30% ($600) tax credit for the cost to install one of these panels.

Weekly Maintenance Reminder - Egress Window Maintenance

If you have an egress window well for your basement, it is important to consider maintenance for this critical home safety item.

A few things to check:

  1. Clean the well drain of all debris

  2. Vacuum out all debris which may have accumulated at the bottom of the well

  3. Make sure that the window opens freely and is clear of all blockages

  4. Clean the outside and inside of the window glass

  5. Make sure that the well cover is easy to remove

  6. If you have a removable ladder system make sure the ladder is present and in good condition.

Is a $40,000 SALT deduction coming?

Several years ago the federal government limited the State and Local Tax Deduction to $10,000 on federal (IRS) taxes.

The recent budget bill passed by the House (and still yet to be passed by the Senate and signed into law by the President) has in the bill to increase the limit to $40,000.

For many, this meant that if your state income and property taxes exceeded $10,000, your deduction of these costs on your IRS tax return was limited to just $10,000.
